Business is business and marketing is a huge part of this! We had the pleasure of interviewing Rudi Marten, who shared his journey with running his family's photography business and shaking things up with new and innovative marketing strategies. He also talks about his journey transitioning back into the family business. Rudi shares his perspective about learning the language of numbers, how to generate leads that become clients, and then giving these individuals an amazing experience.
When Rudi graduated high school he swore he would never go into photography. Growing up in a home studio (Clark Marten Photography) he felt his parents worked far too much for far too little money.
After working in marketing and starting a graphic design business in Seattle, in 2008 Rudi was begged to return and help the studio develop an online and social media strategy. With a change in business practices and marketing philosophies the studio became more profitable than ever. In 2011, Rudi committed to taking over the family business and inspired the Marten’s 10,000 square foot studio in downtown Billings, MT.
Photographers call Rudi a master of marketing and ideas. But this was not a natural gift—it took him years of seeking knowledge, embracing change, and taking action. With these ideas, he inspires and mentors new and aged photographers all over the nation. Even as a family, children, and senior photographer, Rudi continues to grow the Marten’s studio with energy and new ideas.
Rudi has spoken from the stage at Imagining and SYNC not to mention state and regional conventions.
We loved geeking out on marketing and business and marketing with Rudi and know you will too!
